In Unit 1, you learned about the various assumptions of law (four assumptions), along with the various functions and dysfunctions of law. In Unit 2, you learned that there are many different definitions of law. How we define "law" can have a significant impact on our assessment of a legal system.

In a well-written essay of roughly 4 pages (900-1000 words), please provide an initial evaluation of the current legal system being used in the U.S. today. In your essay you must incorporate (1) at least one of the four major assumptions of law; (2) describe at least two functions and two dysfunctions of law; and (3) incorporate at least two different definitions of law, explaining how they relate to your assumption, functions and dysfunctions of the legal system and how these guide the behavior of members of society.

You will use the chapter reading and at least two outside authoritative sources to help support your analysis.
