In this assignment, you are expected to harmonize and make use of the concepts we have learned since the beginning of the term to come up with a proper statistical analysis of a topic of your choice.

This assignment will constitute 10% of your final grade. I may award bonus points to those assignments which are outstandingly good.
In particular, you are expected to:

1) Pick a topic and find an interesting question.

For example: You are an international investor trying to decide whether you should invest your money in NYSE or BIST.

2) Collect data that will help you answer your question. Use real data, do not use made up data.

For example: You collect data on the returns of the two stock exchanges, NYSE and BIST, for the past 24 months.

3) Use the appropriate statistical techniques from Chapters 6-11 to analyse the data. For example: You do confidence interval estimation and hypothesis testing for the difference between the two population means and the variances to compare the risk and return profiles. You may also run a regression of the returns on two stock exchanges on the exchange rate to see which one is more sensitive to exchange rate fluctuations. All these things should be done in Excel. Please use the appropriate Data Analysis Tools.

4) Write a 2-3 pages report presenting and summarizing your findings. This report should include:

a. A description of your project

b. A short description of the data (description of the variables, data sources, etc.)

c. Tables and graphs presenting your analysis (regression tables, scatter plots, confidence interval estimations, etc)
d. Your interpretation of the findings (e.g. Which stock exchange would you invest your money in based on the whole analysis?)

I will not be grading how interesting your question is and how good the data are (despite that, the question you are asking should make sense and the data should be real data).

The grading will be based on:

a) Whether you used the correct techniques in the correct way

b) How good you were in harmonizing different techniques

c) How good your interpretations of the findings were
