Process consistency is measured by evaluating the variability of several items measured from the same process. For instance, the number of M&Ms in several bags should presumably be the same. If, however, they are not consistent, it does not necessarily mean there is a problem. However if there are outliers (some bags with very few M&Ms and others with a lot) then there is a problem in the packaging process. Some variability may be normal but excessive variability is not normal. This assignment is about the determination of variability in the outputs of a process and the determination if the process is in control or not.
This assignment requires you evaluate the data (on the next sheet) and determine if the process is in control or not. Please refer to the chapter on Statistical Process Controls for the procedures to do.
