Essay question: In order to receive points for essay questions, you must have an introduction with a thesis and body paragraphs with evidence to support your thesis and a conclusion. You must provide a minimum of four examples for each essay question. If your answer is only a couple of sentence you have not written an essay. Your answer must have a minimum of six paragraphs and a paragraph has four to five sentences.

2. What did the emergence of the Harlem Renaissance mean for African American culture? What were the contributions of some of its leading figures?

3. How did the American people-men, women, minorities-generally respond to the Great Depression?

4. How was the African American experience with the New Deal different than that of poor whites? Describe both the social and economic dimensions of the African
American experience.

5. Was the war between the United States and Japan inevitable? Could it have been avoided?

6. Critics have charged the United States was morally irresponsible in using atomic weapons against Japan during World War II. What are their arguments? What are the arguments in support of dropping the bombs? Was the United States' action moral or not?
