After viewing this video it is obvious that these children have behavioural problems and their parents find it difficult to manage their behaviour. Therefore, I would assist the parents by listening as they vent their distress in a welcoming and warm environment; assessing the situation by observing how the parents and children interact with each other and be a support system to both parties to bridge the gap and relief the tension in the home by advising the parents to approach every situation with their children in a positive manner, using positive words or phrases to their children, giving their children a voice to express their thoughts and actions as they guide them and most importantly listen to them to yield great results. According to Dr. Judith L. Rapport who is the Chief of the Child Psychiatry Branch at the National Institute of Mental Health in New York when asked what would be her course of action for such situation in a 2015 article "Advice for Parents of Children with Behavioural and Psychiatric Disorder" as seen in this family she shared that seeking professional help is the initial way to resolve some of the behaviours displayed in this family which is another avenue I would advise the family to take to help bridge the gap in their home.

Communication

Communication is very important when raising children as it brings forth positive change in both parties in how they relate to the world around them and not just each other (parents and children). It starts with speaking and ends with listening and application. It is imperative that the parents foster this within the home and not only foster but maintain it. According to change management consultant Mike Friesen in his article "Four Essential Strategies for Effective Communication" (n.d), the strategies for repairing the wounds and moving forward in this family through effective communication are as follows:

Engage compassionately - "Engaging compassionately means that, the parent must take notice of the problems within the family and pay attention to the distresses of each member while showing empathy". There is too much conflict between the children as I notice that she allow them to hurt each other.

Engage logically- Engaging logically means being curious; asked as much question as needed so as to help in finding better solution to the problem. I think using why? Question would help in solving some of the conflict within the family.

Engage systematically-  "Engaging systematically requires a certain amount of discipline or - as the name implies - a system". So the parents in the video should make a system that everyone has to follow.

Engage with presence- Think 'bigger' than the conversation or the behaviour. What is the hidden or implied meaning of the child behaviour?
