Process for Your Week 11 Mock Interview

1. Identify a professional in your field OR your Director of Career Services who can conduct a practice job interview with you. Schedule a time to do the interview by phone or face to face (do this early to avoid last minute scheduling). Don't just choose a family member or friend. Find someone who can give you an unbiased opinion and who understands the requirements of your field.

2. Provide your interviewer with the mock interview rubric so that they can provide you feedback.

3. Prepare for your interview by answering practice questions and practicing examples using the STAR technique.

4. After the interview, send your interviewer a professional thank you note (you will upload it to the week 11 drop box with the below reflection questions and answers).

5. After the interview, complete the following reflection and upload it to the week 11 drop box.

Please Answer the Following Questions:

Who served as your mock interviewer?

• Name
• Title
• Employer
• Phone
• Email

Why did you choose this person, and how did you find him or her (what methods did you use to locate a neutral interviewer)?

Please share at least 3 questions your interviewer asked you, and a brief overview of your response.

What did you feel you did well?

List 3 pieces of feedback you got from your interviewer:

Do you agree or disagree with this feedback from the employer? Was there anything unexpected (positive or negative)?

What did you learn from this experience?

Describe at least 2 things you will do to continue improving your interview skills for the future.

Please submit a copy of the thank you letter you sent to your interviewer.
