8. Discuss procedural safeguards and how they are used in the district with which you are most familiar. How might you change the procedures to make them more effective?

9. Major changes to the disciplinary regulations came with the reauthorization of IDEA in 2004. Discuss what the changes were. How does this change or reinforce earlier court decisions?

10. Discuss some of the major concerns involving disciplinary issues for special education teachers. How are the disciplinary techniques used for children with special needs different from the techniques used in the typical classroom?

11. What are the differences between due process and dispute resolution hearings? Give examples of how these types of hearings would be used in a school district.

12. How does dispute resolution save school districts money?
