One year ago, a survey of persons 18 and over showed that 45% answered YES, 40% answered NO, and 15% answered UNDECIDED. When asked the question "Do you think there should be harsher penalties for under age lawbreakers?" Recently a random sample of 1000 persons 18 and over was asked the same question. The response as follows..YES-500 NO--400 UNDECIDED 100.
At the 1% significance level, can it be concluded that the current distribution of responses differs from that of a year ago ?? Formulate and test the appropriate hypotheses. Use the critical value approach.
