Assignment Topics : AQQD

Your task:

You can analyse any dataset (primary or secondary data) and you can develop your own research question. I recommend reading Economic Letters or other letters journals to get some ideas about recent topics. I also find two example papers on BLE.

Examples based on previous topics:

• Cryptocurrencies: the bubble in Bitcoins

• Developing an early warning system for financial crises

• Risk and returns of ethical investment strategies

Please note the following:

• Please follow the style used in letters journals such as Economics Letters or Applied Financial Economics Letters.

• You should develop a more formalised and concise title for your essay.

• The empirical analysis should provide the following: description of variables used (e.g. definitions), descriptive analysis, exploring data (e.g. outliers) and a regression analysis.

• You have to use STATA for your analysis. A STATA do-file can be provided in the appendix.

• There is less focus on the theoretical background of your topic.

• I do not expect a very long literature review, as the focus is on analysing data.

• Your assignment should demonstrate a good understanding of the relevant concepts, analytical methods and their interpretation. The assignment should demonstrate a good ability to interpret the statistical method, relevant data and facts in an analytical manner. The assignment should bibliographic references as in a published article. The essay must be in your own words. References must be given to any explicit or implicit citations.

• Follow the structure and style of empirical papers published in ‘Economics Letters'.

• Your essays should be about 4000 words long.
