I want to revisit the Aguinda v. Texaco case and look at the merits of the case and some of the partisan discussions:

1. I want you to spend some time reviewing the links above and reflect personally on the merits of the case. How do you feel about the situation in light of what we have discussed this semester and global environmental concerns, especially since the outcome may establish some precedent in international business practices? What is the right outcome in your supported opinion?

While I'm not going to set an exact standard, I would estimate your "paper" would be a page in length single spaced. No special form is required.

2. The Paris agreement was in the headlines a lot last year following President Trump's announcement that the US would withdraw from the deal. I don't want us to get into the political issues involved, but I do want you to review the link on the Paris Agreement in the content folder, so you know what it's about. You need to summarize the agreements' major objectives/key aspects such that I know you understand the context.

3. Susan Currie is a U.S. manufacturer of tear gas, which she sells to various governments for crowd control. To reduce transportation costs to the interested govern- ments, Ms. Currie is considering building a new plant in Germany. The plant will employ 2,500 people. What foreign labor law considerations should she take into account?

A strong market for mineral water is South Moravia, a nation dominated by a fundamentalist state religion that prohibits drinking any alcohol or carbonated beverages. Accordingly, if Crystallina establishes an office there, it will not be able to offer any of its gay executives an opportunity to work there. Does this raise any U.S. legal issues for Crystallina? Should Crystallina establish an office in South Moravia?
