Handle Payroll Enquiries

You are required to answer the following questions based on the information provided in assessment one. It should be written in short answer form or dot point as long as all parts of each question are answered.

Question 1

Julie Simpson has contacted you asking for the balance of her holiday pay. Her boss has also asked her to potentially work on Saturdays and she wants to know if there is any difference in her pay if she does.

a) Outline the steps you would take to investigate this query. Provide details of the reports that you would run.

b) How much holiday leave would you tell her she has?

c) What pay and entitlements would you tell Julie she gets for working on Saturdays?

Question 2

Fred Jones has contacted you requesting details of his total superannuation payments for the year. He has also requested, on behalf of George Smith, details of his superannuation payments for the year. He also wants to know when you will be making the next payment to his superannuation fund?

a) Outline the steps you would take to investigate his query. Provide details of the reports that you would run.

b) What advice would you provide to Fred in regards to:-

i. His payments

ii. George Smith's payments

iii. The payment date

Question 3

Julie Simpson has advised that she may need to take some additional personal leave for a hospital stay in the next few weeks. She thinks she might need to take about a week for the hospital stay and maybe another day or two after that at home. She asks you to check that she will have enough personal leave

a) Outline the steps you would take to investigate his query. Provide details of the reports that you would run.

b) What advice would you give her?

Write a procedure for the payment of the processing and payment of payroll for the company Smith & Jones Pty Ltd (from Assessment 1). Include details of:

• New employees - steps undertaken when a new employee starts with the company

• Confidentiality - security procedures to ensure confidentiality and security of payroll information

• Processing pays - including authorities and time frames

• Allowances - how claims for allowances are checked and guaranteed for authenticity

• Statutory obligations - how statutory obligations are met and records are kept for the required periods under legislation

• Control Measures - what internal control measures will be established to ensure pays are processed appropriately
