You have been hired as the second athletic director in the history of XYZ University which is located in the Kansas. XYZ University has 10,000 students (60 percent women, 40 percent men). The Board of Directors fired the first athletic director because of his failure to comply with Title IX. The university has four athletic teams on campus (Men's Football, Men's Basketball, Men's Baseball, & Women's Basketball).The University also has the following club sport teams: Men's &Women's Soccer, Women's Volleyball, & Women's Crew.
The Board of Directors hired you to implement changes to comply with gender equity rules mandated by Congress in 1972.
Note: All of the current four sports have a strong following in the community and have generated significant revenue for the university.
a) Discuss how you will implement these changes using the three-prong-test outlined for Title IX in your textbook to comply with the federal law. b) After you have conducted the necessary changes to comply with the federal law of Title IX, will the Board of Directors still see a significant amount of revenue for the university? References are expected as you conduct research to answer the question. (10 points)
c) As a future athletic director that values morals, do you feel Title IX is needed to help you do your job?If you answered yes, would you propose changes in Title IX to make it stronger than the present three prong-test to be more effective? If you answered no, what recommendations would you make to change enforcement of Title IX, would you consider it needs to be repealed?Explain. (10 points)

The next matter at XYZ University is that all the coaches are white, except for one African-American assistant coach on the Men's Basketball team. Review Chapter 6 (Employment Law) to help address the following questions. Outside sources are expected.
a) Regarding the number of African-American coaches at XYZ University, can a claim be made under Title VII?(5 points)
b) Do you think Title VII is an effective law as you enter the field of sport administration? Why or why not? (5 points)
c) Data has shown that in Division I Men's Basketball, African-Americans account for 56.8 percent of the athletes and whites hold
30.6 percent (Lapchick, 2011). These numbers vary across various sports (see Lapchick, 2011). With that being said, do you feel a federal law needs to be put in place on the basis of Player-Equity? Why or why not? (5 points)
