Annotated Bibliography

Length: at least 3 sources

What: Develop an annotated bibliography that describes at least 3 sources you've found for your major research paper.  This assignment will require you to

  • read actively and demonstrate understanding and analysis of readings.
  • locate, evaluate, and integrate information purposefully from electronic and/or print sources and document them using correct APA style.
  • apply knowledge by expressing informed opinions in written format.

Why: An annotated bibliography guides the reading, evaluating, and sorting of sources planned for use in a major research paper.  It also gives practice using APA citation format and demonstrates quality of research undertaken, while strengthening a writer's ability to analyze and evaluate main ideas, supporting evidence, and conclusions in a variety of persuasive texts.

How:  For your annotated bibliography, ensure the following items have been addressed:

1) Use 3 sources in the construction of the annotated bibliography, paying attention to content reliability and author credibility

2) Cite each source in perfect APA Reference page format

3) Summarize the content of each source

4) Discuss how each source will aid your paper's development

5) Use the sample annotated bibliography as a model for page layout and paragraph elements

6) Include your major research paper's title, subject, and working thesis statement at the top of the annotated bibliography

7) Use Times New Roman font, 11 or 12 pt.

8) Although the sample Annotated Bibliography provided is presented in 1st person point of view, your instructor may require you to submit the project in 3rd person point of view.  Please verify the specific expectation with your instructor.
