1. In the worksheet labeledAVERAGES,

a. Calculate the averages for each of the five regions for each of the four categories: Number of People living with HIV 2013, Number of People Living with HIV 2015, Number of Deaths from HIV 2013, Number of Deaths from HIV 2005. b. Copy and Paste the Average Cells from step 1 into this WORD document following this paragraph. Discuss what these averages are showing you. That is, discuss any trends that you may see; have either the cases or deaths increased or decreased in a certain region?

2. For the Regional Averages of People Living with HIV for both 2013 and 2005,

a. Using Excel, create a Column Chart that comparestheseAverages. (Use the averages you found in step 1.)

b. Copy and Paste this Column Chart into this document after this section. Discuss any trends that you may see; have the cases increased or decreased in a certain region? Which region has had the largest increase and which region has stayed about the same?

3. For the Regional Averages of People who have Died from HIV for both 2013 and 2005,

a. Create a Column Chart that compares these averages. (Use the averages you found in step 1.)

b. Copy and Paste this Column Chart into this document after this section. Discuss any trends that you may see; have either the deaths increased or decreased in a certain region? Which region has had the largest increase and which region has stayed about the same?

4. Using the African Region, select a random sample of25 countries (in Excel you may use the =Randbetween(1,43). Recalculate, F9, this value until you select 25 different countries from your chosen region. NO two people in the class should have the same sample - if this occurs, then you may receive a grade of 0 for this is not likely to happen!!!

Place all the HIV information for your randomly 25 countries into the worksheet labeled 25RANDOM Africa COUNTRIES. If needed, organize this data so that it displays well. Make sure to include column headings - copy and paste the column headers from the original worksheet. Then copy and paste this information into this document after this section.

5. Calculate the mean and standard deviation for your 25 countries for each of the 4 categories. Place this information in orderly manner intothis document after this section. Discuss what these values are showing you, more importantly discuss which of these 4 categories has more spread about the mean and why you think that may be occurring.

6. From your 25 randomly countries, construct a 95% Confidence Interval for the mean for the 2013 group of those Living with HIV. Use Statdisk. Copy the Confidence Interval and margin of Error into this document after this section. Discuss what this interval is telling you.

7. Discuss whether or not the mean (which would represent the population mean) that you found for your region from step 1) is actually contained in your confidence interval. Is this what you expected? Why or why not?

Calculate the two differences (Increases if positive) using your sample data: The difference between 2013 and 2005 for those Living with HIV and the differences between 2013 and 2005 for the Deaths Due to HIV by subtracting the 2005 data values FROM the 2013 values: 2013 minus 2005 data. Copy and paste this information into this document after this section. Now discuss what you see; what are the values (differences) showing you. If you have any negative values, what does that actually tell you?

9. As a society we should hope that the number of deaths from HIV has decreased. The actual number of incidences may have increased but hopefully, due to medical breakthroughs,the deaths have gone down. From your sample, test the claim that the mean differences of DEATHS is less than 0 (thus have decreased).Using Statdisk run a hypothesis test on the mean (one population) using these differences. The significance level be α=0.05. Make sure to include below in this document the following:

a. Claim & Hypotheses
b. Statdisk Information
c. Conclusions for Ho and for the claim

10. Using your sample, do a regression test on the two differences. That is, is there a linear relationship between the difference of people Living with HIV and the differences of Deaths due to HIV? Use a significance level of 0.05.Make sure that you explain why you draw the conclusions you do by referencing the p-value or critical values. Again, include below the following:

a. Claim & Hypotheses
b. Statdisk Information
c. Conclusions for Ho and for the claim

11. Make a prediction, using the information in #10: If the difference of people living with HIV was 1000, what would you expect the difference of deaths due to HIV be? Explain how you calculated your prediction: did you use a regression equation or the average? Why?
