Scenario

Koala Chocolates of Redfern makes a variety of chocolates and novelty sweets. It is an old family company run in very traditional ways, which is trying to grow and compete in the rapidly changing modern technological age.

To increase its marketing options, Koala's management wants to sell its products online. However, at this stage it only has a simple internet site with company details and a telephone number for ordering. Online ordering does not exist at Koala yet. Koala's expanded website must be modern and well-designed to be current best-practice. This new system will allow its customers to choose from a detailed range of products, place orders, pay online and track their orders, as well as arranging delivery and develop ongoing customer relationships.

The new online ordering system must also link to Koala's existing IT system that tracks the inventory in its factory and warehouse, helps to schedule production and so on.

In the future, the company also wants to have smartphone apps as part of its online ordering system. Mr Goanna, the warehouse and inventory controller has insisted that all changes must be implemented before Mother's Day next year.

"There is a strict deadline time for this system to be completed," said Miss Wombat, a senior manager. "Please make sure that everything works perfectly before the site goes public," she continued. "I don't want any complaints from customers receiving the wrong chocolates!"
In addition, Miss Wallaby, the order processing manager, said the system must be secure.
