Just like a Commercial Lender has to understand their client base by analyzing a company's business, understanding their corporate culture, and learning their business operations, you will have the opportunity to analyze a company listed in the 2016 Fortune 100 best companies to work for or analyzing a company headquartered in San Antonio. This is an opportunity for you to learn about the company's culture, their products and services and the successful management of their operations. You must provide the instructor with the name of the company you will be analyzing prior to submission of your paper.

The hyperlinks below will provide a listing of the companies to be analyzed:

http://fortune.com/best-companies/
http://www.sanantonioedf.com/business-profile/major-employers/

The paper will be aligned according to the Decision Tree Approach:

I. Understanding Business Borrowers: In this section, you will address the following:

• Identify the industry of the company • Describe the Company's Culture and Employees: Does the company embrace collaboration and innovation and create a work environment for open dialogue. Describe how the company's culture sets itself apart from the rest of the industry? • Describe the Sales and Marketing: Describe the company's products and services and explain who their market is and their growth and development.

II. Analyzing Business Financial Statements and Tax Returns: In this section you will address the following:

• Provide a basic summary of the Company's Financial Performance: In this section analyze the company's financial performance data (i.e. revenues, net income, new products that generated more revenues versus last year, customer's buying habits changing that affected their revenue, etc.). Evaluate the financial trends and other leading indicators of the company as well as risks (i.e. market risks, etc.).You can utilize Microsoft Excel in this section to show key ratio analysis. Note: Be cognizant in utilizing tables and graphs as supportive resources in your analysis. If tables and graphs are used to fill-up space and not support your analysis, points will be deducted.

III. Qualitative Analysis: In this section you will address the following:

• Read and analyze the annual Shareholder Letter: Describe those points that aid in validating the company's success or that merit being mentioned (i.e. The company is expanding internationally, the company's branding is innovative, etc.)

IV. Presentation of this company as a potential business client:

• In this last section, you must validate the reasoning as to why this company would add value to your portfolio at your financial institution.
The project paper must be limited to 6-8 pages excluding the reference and cover pages. The paper must follow MLA format. The format of the paper should consist of no more than a 12 point Times New Roman font size, be grammatically correct, and double- spaced.
