Here's some info specifically targeted about my job to make it easier for you :

Overview of the Situation/Problem:

This UPS hub is located in St. Petersburg, Florida.

To get a better understanding of the preload I will tell you that there are 3 Centers, St. Petersburg, Largo, and Countryside. St Petersburg has 3 belts while the other two centers have 2. The problem here is that most belts don't reach the targeted production for the day for us to run high numbers as a building. The target production rate is 180 PPH. I have observed that lately most belts have been running in the 160's besides a select one or two. I also want to address safety because running high numbers doesn't mean that safety has to take a back seat. Both, stellar production and a safe work environment can be achieved.

The Opportunity:

There are many areas to look into:

- First, is the volume between the 3 centers evenly distributed?

- Are employees used to their full potential or just standing around waiting for further instruction?

- Are supervisors cutting employees early enough once the volume drops?

- Are we efficient at wrapping up the work area, is stacking (leaving packages out of the truck) addressed?

- Are supervisor spending sufficient time training new employees the methods?

- In safety, can the employee explain how the safety precautions taught to them affect them and can they give the feedback?

Audience Analysis:

To whom will you present your final project recommendations? What are the needs/concerns of this audience? I will present my final project recommendations to my building Manager. She's approachable and willing to listen to ideas that can benefit us, therefore I have no concerns.
