Assignment: International Trade Agreements and Organizations

The objective of this assignment is to learn about the purpose and importance of the numerous international trade agreements and organizations that contribute to the manner in which international business is conducted today.

Individually, you will be required to conduct research on your chosen trade agreement or organization and create a research report, based on the information you have found

There are two steps in the report. You will first hand in the rough work research form and then complete a good copy.

Step 1: Research and Rough Work

Complete the rough work form provided. This must be completed by Wednesday, November 1 or the final copy will not be accepted.

Step 2: Final Report

After the research, write a report that includes the following information:

• Introduction

o A brief overview of the historical development of the agreement/organization
o A brief overview of the stated objectives of the trade organization or trade agreement

• Arguments in support of the trade organization or the trade agreement

o Provide two well-researched arguments
o Include an example for each argument

• Arguments against the trade organization or the trade agreement

o Provide two well-researched arguments
o Include an example for each argument

• Your opinion

o Based on your research, what is your opinion?

• Conclusion

o Summarize your report

• Documentation

o Proper in-text citations in MLA format
o A complete and detailed Works Cited List in MLA format

• Communication

o Use formal writing style

? Write in the third person
? Avoid contractions

? Write clearly and concisely (in "easy to understand language"). For example, don't use the phrase "multilateral trade cripples the transparency of globalization". Instead, you can say, "Multilateral trade cripples the transparency of globalization. What that means is...and here is an example..."
