The American Nursing Association (ANA) reports that there is a nursing shortage. This article makes some suggestions regarding how to correct this shortage. In addition to suggesting changing the compensation for nurses, the ANA suggests the following strategies for eliminating the shortage:
a. Develop initiatives to move nurses through graduate studies more rapidly.
b. Reach out to young adults and promote nursing as a career.
c. Pass laws that give nurses more flexibility in paying back college loans.
d. Use technological advances in the health system to enhance the current group of nurses.
