Ship, Captain and Crew (sometimes called Ship, Captain and Mate) was a popular bar game played for drinks with five dice and throwing cup. Each player gets three throws. He has to get a 6 (ship), a 5 (captain) and a 4 (crew), in that order, before he can make a point. As he throws each of these special numbers, those dice are removed from play.

The total of the two dice left over is his point and the other player (the Computer) has to beat that total (point value).

Note that the three dice combination of Ship, Captain and Crew has to be built in order. That is, the player must throw the 6 before or at the same time as the 5 and the 5 before or at the same time as the 4.

If the player makes his Ship, Captain and Crew on his first or second throw, he can use the other throws to try to get a high point. Obviously, the best situation is to get Ship, Captain and Crew on the first throw, so you have two chances to throw a high point.  Note it is possible that a player may not throw the required combination at all in their three throws, in this case their point total is zero, obviously.

Following is a mock-up of a game:

You have rolled 4 4 4 4 4

Press Enter to roll the 5 dice

You have rolled 2 5 3 6 6

You have your Ship and Captain

Press Enter to roll the 3 dice

You have rolled 6 4 1

You have your Crew and your point total is 7

I have rolled 6 6 5 4 5

I have my Ship and Captain and Crew and my point total is 11.

I win.

You have won 0 games and I have won 1 games.

Play again? (Y or N): N

Thanks for playing
