(a) Part 1:

The Written submission (10 marks) Write a research essay to critically evaluateselected companies' (listed below)commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR) and/or sustainable developmentas disclosed in annual reports/sustainable development reports and/or companies websites to argue possible links between ‘social and environmental performance' and financial performance? (2,000 - 2500 words)

Hint: You cannot simply describe the CSR activities of these companies. You need to argue whether communication of social performance can/has led to enhanced financial performance for these companies. You need to do some extended personal research and self-directed learning in order to complete this assignment and fully explain your perspective. You are required to use at least 3 peer-reviewed research papers. You must visit the websites (including annual and any CSR/sustainability reports) for the sample companies.

(b) Part 2: The presentation (10 marks) you are required to submit a video presentation based on part 1: The Written submission (5-6minutes duration). It is highly recommended that you video your presentation. This provides you with the opportunity to talk about the main points in your written assignment 2 and will assist you in enhancing your communication and presentation skills.
