Children and Poverty:

Write an article about homelessness and poverty in your community, and how organizations (i.e. Salvation Army, Red Cross, churches, etc.) are helping. Write the article with the intention of publishing it in the community newspaper. The response should be at least 350 words.

Consider the following when completing the article:

Are there areas in your neighborhood or town where people are living in poverty? What do you notice about these areas?

What stereotypes do others have about the people in those areas?

What do you believe is at the center of the issue of poverty in your community?

How is your community assisting the homeless?

What would you like to see happen in your community?
