Assignment

"Rome's Major Urban Structures" Please write ONE paragraph per part with a minimum of 125 words by responding to the following, using sources under the Explore heading as the basis of your response.

There are THREE parts to Discussion Option B:

Select one of the following famous ancient Roman structures that you find most fascinating: Colosseum, Circus Maximus, Pantheon, insulae, or bath complexes.

• 1) From the reading of Chapter 6, write one paragraph of 125 words or more that demonstrates your understanding of Rome's major structures in chapter 5 by describing one major structure from above that is the most fascinating and explain why. In your explanation makes sure to describe the structure and explain why the Romans built it or anything else that is descriptive about the structure.

• 2) After demonstrating one major Roman structure make a comparison of two specific aspects of the chosen structure and compare it to two specific aspects of an American modern urban structure. Make sure to write one paragraph that is 125 words or more.

• 3) Use the Resource Center that is found at the top of your Blackboard course shell and find a resource that compares the chosen Roman structure and a modern structure that is not American. (Please list your source at the end of your post). Compare two specific aspects of the chosen structure and compare it to two specific aspects of a modern urban structure that is not American. Make sure to write one paragraph that is 125 words or more.

Evaluation Criteria For Threaded Discussions: Your discussion must have ONE paragraph with a minimum of 125 words for each part of the discussion. Discussion question(s) should present well-reasoned and thoughtful analyses. Each student will also need to respond to a classmates Original Discussion Thread, but on a topic that is different than your Initial discussion. For example - if your initial response is to Discussion Option B, then your response to a classmate needs to be to someone who posts an initial response to Discussion Option A. The response needs to have a minimum of 50 Words and add to the discussion topic. Don't simply say "I agree with so-and-so" or " Mona Lisa is cool" and expect that to suffice. I look for well-reasoned and thoughtful comments; I will not penalize you for opinions with which I disagree. You are not limited to one post and are encouraged to be actively involved in the discussion.

Threaded Discussions (TDs)

Threaded discussions are where we have our classroom conversations each week. If we were in a traditional class, this is where we would discuss what we have read and learned. In an online environment, threaded discussions serve the same purpose. One of the benefits of an online class is that you have more time to reflect and post your response. However, discussion boards by definition are not assignments that are easily made up and thus, late participation is not accepted. Week 3's Discussion will not be accepted after Monday at 9am EST of Week 4. If you miss class, you miss class.
