Assignment

Instructions

1. Select an illegal activity and transform/mask its' true purpose with the disguise of a legitimate business operation. In other words, create a start-up business that would be viewed as a legal activity under the laws of the State of Hawaii. BE CREATIVE AND ENTERTAINING

2. Then, select a business organizational format (your choice must either be a Limited Partnership, a Limited Liability Company, or a Corporation) in accordance with the State of Hawaii Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs (DCCA) filing requirements (you can do an on-line/google search).

3. Requirements:

Things to address in presentation:

· What business organizational format (Limited Partnership, a Limited Liability Company, or a Corporation) was chosen and WHY? (reasons why you chose the particular format i.e. no double taxation, etc.)

· Name of Business (be creative)

· The creativity required to "transform" it from an illegal enterprise into a legitimate business venture.

· Potential/Problematic Issues

· Possible Remedies

· Provide scanned copies of the filled-out (but not filed) forms required by the Hawaii State DCCA to start and register the particular business organization chosen. (or print screen if scanning is not possible)

· Be sure to include the necessary registration forms that are required by other governmental agencies to start and "legalize" your business? (e.g. DCCA Trade Names, GET from the Hawaii Department of Taxation, the IRS, etc.)

Your Presentations can be submitted as a word document supplemented with Power Point slides. There is no requirement for it to be in MLA, APA; or any particular format...the word document can be written as your script; however, time yourself because your Presentation will be at least 15 minutes in duration-this is a subjective measurement based on your elocution style rather than giving you a set number of pages.

Remember to include with your Presentation scanned copies of the DDCA and Tax Office forms necessary for you particular type of business organization. (include scanned filled-out copies in presentation).
