Assignment: Principles of Economics Competition

Consider the US economy:

• Begin by examining and analyzing the current state of the US economy by usingeconomic data, news reports, academic journal articles and other reliable sources to explore macroeconomic factors. Additionally, examine the trends in these macroeconomic factors over the past several years leading up to the current time period.

• Based on the background information, highlight one important problem facing the US economy today. Use your economic data which you gathered to provide evidence for why your team believes this is a serious macroeconomic problem.

• Make and justify a recommendation for macroeconomic policy which could be used to address this problem.

• Explain how you expect the policy to impact the US economy. Your analysis should be supported by the macroeconomic theory, graphs, and concepts you have been learning in your Principles of Macroeconomic course this semester. Your team should show how the policy will impact macroeconomic factors and the problem facing the economy as a whole using the aggregate demand and aggregate supply model, theoretical concepts and graphical analysis.

• Your recommendation should take into consideration timely issues and risks both within the US and other global economies. In addition, all sources should be cited.
